I am feeling grateful lately. Grateful that Lula has taken a break from waking up multiple times overnight. Grateful that I am finding ways to deal with her ever-growing need to be by my side constantly. Grateful that the sun has been (mostly) shining and that our weather was in the 40s and 50s for most of last week.
Grateful that this enables me to take Miss Lula outdoors to exercise.
And I am especially grateful that my neighborhood has a park, which is very close to my house.
We were there last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and she had a blast!
She got so dirty every time we were there and at first, I was kind of hung up on it…how long was it going to take me to clean her up, what if she puts dirt in her mouth (she did), etc.
But as I am sure I will do for the rest of my life, I had to remind myself that this wasn’t about me and my concerns. It was about my daughter exploring her world and having fun! Who cares if she eats some dirt or if there is caked mud under her fingernails for a day or two compared to the joy she gets out of being outdoors and feeling some freedom?
Once I let go of my concerns, it was off to the races! She had a wonderful time and we are planning on heading back as soon as it gets warmer!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Thanks for the reminder about dirt! I am definentely an overprotective worrier when it comes to dirt and germs! Once spring arrives my daughter will be old enough to play at the park…I need to prepare myself because I do not want her to miss out on those experiences!
Yay, how exciting for your daughter to be able to enjoy the park! It is so fun when they are starting to figure out how to do things on their own!
Looks like she had a lot of fun. I usually have those initial thoughts too – ahh, he’s making a mess – but then quickly let them go and enjoy it. I guess toddlers just aren’t meant to be clean
So true about toddlers–they are just dirty–all the time! At least there is always bath time.
Oh, my, is that what winter could look like? I haven’t seen dirt (nor 40 degrees!) in so long!
Yes it is and I’m sorry to rub it in! Feel free to rub it in when it’s August and your temperatures aren’t all that bad and we are enjoying highs of 100s most days!
Oh, you’ve grown another appendage as well? I swear I have a third leg these days. I like to remind myself how much I will miss these days when he’s 16 and mom isn’t cool anymore.
I need to be better about the dirt too. I am cool with a mess, but the eating of dirt completely freaks me out. That has to be bad for the digestion
SERIOUSLY. So glad I am not the only one. She panics if I am out of her line of sight for two seconds. And I also try to remember the same thing about time going so quickly…although I see her breaking away closer to eleven or twelve and it’s gonna be ugly!
Too funny about digestion…reminds me of reading What To Expect when I was pregnant the first time around and the book mentioned pica–that craving some pregnant women have to eat dirt–yeah, never got that one.
Happy Wednesday!
I tend to cringe when Hailey gets dirty or messy, too, but am trying to learn to relax about it. I even set her up with paints to play in, but turns out she doesn’t like getting her hands very messy either
I think I have a girly girl on my hands. Yikes.
I love Lula’s sweet pink nose in that last picture!
Hee hee! I saw that picture of H with the messy paint hands in one of your recent posts and she looked so upset! That is too funny! L is really into handing me every hair she finds- and can’t focus on anything else until I take care of it. Makes me chuckle. Thanks for stopping by, busy lady!
Kids ALWAYS have so much fun with dirt. Even my son who is 11 now, still have a lot of fun with dirt
