Howdy and happy Monday!
It was a beautiful weekend here- mid-70′s, a little breezy, and mostly sunny. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Pa, Lula and I went running on Saturday morning. We got in about 5 miles before some far-off thunder and lightning strikes forced us indoors. We normally take Saturdays off and run on Sunday mornings but this week, we decided to switch things up so Sundays could be a little more relaxed. Although it was hard to get out there, we were glad we did, especially on Sunday morning.
Lula and I discovered a new, cheap way to get out and about. The local library! Not only is it cool, quiet, and a great place to get books, they now offer…movies!
We usually rent a movie on Saturday evenings through amazon unbox but the library “rents” them for free and I was impressed by the selection. They let you keep movies for a week- not bad. We watched Shutter Island and got through about two hours before we I couldn’t keep my eyes open. We still haven’t finished it and I wasn’t too impressed. It seems like most movies we’ve watched lately have been disappointing. I think it’s time to face the facts. I’m getting old highly critical.
Sunday was an all around fantastic day. It was glorious to wake up after 9 hours of sleep knowing that we didn’t have to run! We ended up heading out to wax the cars early on which we’d been putting off doing forever. Lula (mostly happily) sat in her stroller and once she got fussy, I put her in the Bjorn carrier and she had a great time!
We strolled to the gas station to get the paper and found a few decent coupons to clip once we got back home. Pa noticed that it seems so many coupons are for processed foods…bummer.
We spent some time out in the yard later on and wow, is the garden growing!
An update coming later this week. I took a shot of the wildflower patch which has come a long way since Easter weekend.
Looking good…it will probably be a few more weeks until we see flowers but I can’t wait to see what blooms this year!
To end our weekend, we got Lula all ready for bed and we drove out to a little man-made lake near the house to try to take a few photographs of the lunar eclipse.
Unfortunately, the thick clouds got in the way of capturing the bite missing from the sun. Pa showed me a neat trick- he took a piece of paper and made a few pin pricks of different sizes on the paper. Then he positioned the paper so the sun would shine through it onto a rock so the bite was more visible. The result?
The bright spots on the rock do a nice job of showing the bite.
Although we didn’t get a photo due to the heavy clouds, it was a beautiful night to be outdoors, we really enjoyed doing something different and we saw this!
A blue heron! Pa shot some video and it was fun to watch him or her fish for supper.
Memorial Day weekend is coming up and Lula and I have lots of fun stuff planned for the week. Have a great one!
